Christmas

Does anyone else get a little bit depressed when Christmas is over?
We had a good Christmas. Holidays are 1 million times better with kids.
Kya was the first one up, and before I could feed her, she headed straight for her new toy from Santa.

Rogan slept until 9:30! WHAT?! This kid rarely sleeps past 7. So we all sat on the couch waiting for him to get up. He was a bit (a lot) disappointed Santa brought him the wrong firetruck and Santa felt like the worst Santa ever, but he got over it pretty quick when he realized how much more awesome this one was.

He LOVES his big tractor from Gramma and Papa.

And this one wasn't sure why she was excited, but she was.

She was perfectly happy eating plastic while the rest of us tore away at wrapping paper.

She is such a sweet girl.

Before heading up on "the hill" to go sledding we got in a quick game of mouse trap.

He liked it.

How was your Christmas?

Santa Came to Town

His first glimpse of the man in red....
Untitled
Rogan told him all the things he wanted.... Among the list was a fire truck, a monster truck and a backhoe...
Untitled
He had to think for a while to make sure he listed everything...
Untitled
Kya wasn't to crazy about the jolly old fellow (why does it look like his beard is attacking him? maybe thats what she was unsure of...?)
Untitled
She didn't tell him what she wants this year...

cookies!

This one is getting more and more out of control every day.
Untitled
And this one takes his cookie decorating VERY seriously.
Untitled
He started out extra careful.
Untitled
Spreading just enough frosting; sprinkling a few pretty little sprinkles.
Untitled
But it soon got a bit out of hand.
Untitled
And VERY messy. But boy did he have fun!

for the record...

So on Sunday we realized that we needed a Christmas tree, and that it needed to happen right then, or we probably wouldn't have another day to do it. So on our way home from grandma and grandpa's house, we stopped the car and Rogan and the dad went off into the forest to find one quickly. By into the forest I mean 20ft off the road. maybe. Rogan found one and said it was so pretty and made him so happy, so this is the trophy we ended up with. And I love it.

The boy is SO excited about Christmas this year. He woke up the other night and said "I think I heard Santa saying "Ho, Ho, Ho" in the sky!"

And the girl...she is pulling herself up on EVERYTHING lately. she is ready to walk. It wont be much longer...

Rogan put the star on the tree.

But we quickly decided it was a hazard, and took it off.

And this is the finished project. I should probably get a better picture. But this one looks like its melting.

And I would just like the records to show that today is December 6th, and there is NO, yes I said NO, snow in our yard. WHAT!?

And speaking of Dec 6th...Happy Birthday Britt!

Christmas

First, we wrote a note for Santa
Then we put out some treats for him, and his reindeer
Then we waited. And waited. And waited. Santa came while we slept, but the boy patiently waited some more. His Christmas started at bedtime.
And then the happy little child was sent promptly to bed.
We went sledding down the big hill.
And had a frozen little boy in the end

Its almost here!!!!

I don't know about you, but we're getting pretty excited around here.
We played pin the nose on Rudolph

And last night we went to see Santa!
We were prepared for a screaming little boy that wanted nothing to do with a complete stranger, but much to our surprise, the boy would have happily gone home with jolly old St. Nick (as long as he could play with his beard the whole time...)
Had the last picture turned out, it would have been my favorite. Someday I will learn how to take a picture that you can actually see.
Now I just have to keep Rogan out of the presents for a couple more days...

tree hunting

We started off this years tree hunt my making approximately  1 million salt dough ornaments, which the boy carefully hand painted.
Then off to the woods we went, hunting for the ultimate tree.
We found a tree that fit our extremely high standards, and from there Darth took over to get it home.
And the dad hauled the boy home.
but took advantage of the big hill on the way and hopped on for a ride himself...
We got the tree home, and the boy loaded it full of his beautiful decorations...
And has happily been sitting and watching the train ever since.
